The John Gidman Story is MUTV's special feature-length documentary on the successful career and colourful life of the former Manchester United defender.

At 15, Gidman was told by legendary manager Bill Shankly that he wouldn't make the grade for his local club Liverpool, but he recovered from this rejection to play as an attacking right-back for Aston Villa, Everton, United (from 1981 to 1986), Manchester City and Stoke City, and was also capped by England in 1977.
MUTV spent time with John in Manchester, Marbella and on Merseyside to piece together his compelling story. The resulting documentary features interviews with United alumni Ron Atkinson, Bryan Robson, Norman Whiteside and Ray Wilkins, Liverpool stalwarts Roy Evans and Phil Thompson and former Villa midfielder Brian Little.
The John Gidman Story will be shown on MUTV at 21:00 BST on Saturday, immediately after Match Day Live dissects the Norwich game, and again at the same time on Sunday.
