International conference on electromagnetic fields and health

Can talking on your mobile phone all day or living near a power line be hazardous to your health? According to a recent Eurobarometer survey, two thirds of Europeans surveyed believe it can. The potential health effects of electromagnetic fields (EMF) have long been a source of scientific controversy and subject to contradictory messages in the media.
Today, registration opens for an international scientific conference on electromagnetic fields (EMF) and health, taking place in Brussels on 16 and 17 November. This conference, organised by the European Commission under the auspices of the independent Scientific Committee on Emerging and Newly Identified Health Risks (SCENIHR), will gather eminent scientists from around the world to discuss the topic in depth. Participants will exchange opinions and ideas on the main sources of uncertainty in EMF & health research, the areas where scientific consensus already exists and the key remaining knowledge gaps. The aim of the discussion is to develop a proposal for a strategy to address these remaining issues.
