Incoming CEO says Bayer able to finance another Schering-sized deal

Incoming Bayer CEO Marijn Dekkers said the company could possibly complete another deal the size of the one under which it acquired Schering in 2006 for 17 billion euros ($23 billion). Dekkers, who replaces Werner Wenning on Friday, confirmed his aim to pursue acquisitions to strengthen Bayer's healthcare division, as well as increasing "the proportion of business we make in emerging markets." The executive noted that there would not be acquisitions into areas of medicine where the drugmaker is not already established, adding that "a fundamental change is currently not on my agenda."
